Manchester City are looking to use their New York City FC connections to pip Stoke City to England Under-21 international winger Jack Harrison, TEAMtalk has been told.
Stoke City had been hoping to strike a deal for the 21-year-old, who was actually born in the Potteries, before moving to America – where he has come through the football ranks and is now a first-team regular with New York City.
However, New York City FC are a feeder club of Manchester City – who are ready to “buy him” from their Major League Soccer entity and bring him back to England.
And the immediate benefactors could be Middlesbrough – with our sources telling us that talks have already taken place about the Teessiders taking the young star to the Riverside on a loan deal for the rest of the season.
Boro boss Tony Pulis is looking for a couple of a loan additions to his squad, and Harrison is one of those he is targeting.
Despite being based in America, Harrison has been capped by England at Under-21 level and is rated highly.
Talks are ongoing between City and NYCFC and Pep Guardiola’s side will hope to secure the player’s signature before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night.
