Exclusive: Gillingham to replace boss Pennock within days

Gillingham boss Aidy Pennock has been given another few days by chairman Paul Scally, but he is still expected to be out of work within the next week, TEAMtalk understands.

Scally had decided last week to axe Pennock and director of sport Peter Taylor told him that he would be leaving after the Charlton game  which the Gills won.

Talks had been ongoing but Scally had opted for former Newcastle man Nobby Solano, in tandem with former Leyton Orient boss Ian Hendon – and whilst that remains an option, Scally is yet to pull the plug officially on Pennock.

TEAMtalk understands that Pennock may be in charge this weekend, but only if the Gills hierarchy have not finalised his replacement.
