Roma are ready to rival Leicester City for Norwegian international Mohamed Elyounoussi, sources have told TEAMtalk.com.
Premier League leaders Leicester are long-term admirers of Molde star Elyounoussi and had targeted him as a possible replacement for Riyad Mahrez should the in-demand Algerian be lured away from the King Power Stadium this summer.
Leicester have had a long-term interest in Elyounoussi and weighed up a move for the player before they eventually signed Mahrez from Le Havre in January 2014.
Elyounoussi has come to the attention of several clubs across Europe’s top leagues after impressing for club and country in the last 18 months
The 21-year-old has scored 38 goals in 81 games for Molde, including strikes in both Molde’s victories over Celtic in the Europa League and he is now a regular in the Norwegian national side.
Elyounoussi, who can play out wide or up front, is understood to have been watched by Roma scouts during Sunday’s win over Stabaek where he scored both goals in the 2-1 win.
The Italian giants plan to continue to monitor Elyounoussi as they weigh up a move for the attacker and Molde are bracing themselves for interest in their prize asset this summer.
