FA chief urges Blatter to quit

Glenn, who was appointed to his role at the Football Association earlier this year, describes Blatter as “a lame duck president”.

Blatter did not attend the Women’s World Cup which ended on Sunday evening in Canada and Glenn told Sky Sports News HQ: “One can only speculate on the reasons why he didn’t come and I won’t add fuel to that fire.

“It was clearly not a good thing from his point of view.

“But you can’t have a lame duck president who is scared to travel to a jurisdiction where the rule of the law is something to fear.

“If he loves football and I think he does – because he’s put a lot of work into football – then I think he should stand down.

“The whole FIFA thing is a bit of a mess. You may have heard some FIFA officials being booed today (at the Women’s World Cup final in Canada).”

Blatter, who was re-elected president of FIFA in May, announced a few days later that he would step aside before March of next year.
