Lukasz Fabianski: Knows what to expect from Swansea City boss

Lukasz Fabianski was well aware what new Swansea City boss Francesco Guidolin would bring to the training ground prior to his arrival in south Wales.

The Polish shot-stopper is familiar with the Italian having been part of the Arsenal squad that eliminated his Udinese side at the Champions League play-off stage in 2011.

The 60-year-old takes charge of his first game as Swansea boss on Sunday, with a tricky trip to Everton.

Fabianski was impressed by the brand of attacking football played by Guidolin’s former side four-and-a-half years ago.

“I remember Udinese were a very good team and played positive, attacking football under Francesco. I think that’s what we can expect here,” Fabianski told Swansea’s official website.

“I’ve also spoken to (Emiliano) Viviano, who was at Arsenal the same time as me and he played for Palermo a few years after Francesco had managed them. He had plenty of good things to say about him, so that’s very positive.”

Swansea have the joint worst away record in the Barclays Premier League with only one win in their 10 trips away from the Liberty Stadium.

However Fabianski is sure Guidolin’s managerial style will make a big impression on the club.

He said: “Francesco has been instructing us on the tactical and technical approaches he expects the team to play.

“He wants us to play attractive football, and I’m sure he will have a positive impact on the team.”
