Fake cancer victim returns kit

It emerged this week that Moon, who the club, players and supporters rallied behind when she claimed to have contracted bowel cancer, had in fact duped people and was suffering instead from a blood condition known as Vascular Ehlers Disease.

North End had taken their League One play-off final trophy to her home while she was also given signed shirts from the likes of Kevin Davies.

Earlier this week, Davies and former team-mate Jack King, who donated his play-off final shirt to Moon, had both expressed their disappointment at finding out Moon’s story was a hoax.

In the interview with Rock FM where she came clean about her lie, Moon promised to return everything to the club and they confirmed on Thursday that they were once again in their possession.

A tweet from the Lilywhites read: “All PNE memorabilia given to Linda Moon has been returned & we’ll be doing various charitable acts with it. We’ll always be a community club.”
