It was De Bruyne’s corner that led to the game’s opening goal, an excellent header from another new acquisition, defender Nicolás Otamendi. It was De Bruyne’s fourth assist of the season.
The Belgian has also scored three himself, making it seven direct contributions in seven games.
The midfielder has created 21 chances for team-mates at an average of three per game. He is completing an average of 38 successful passes per game with a pass completion of 77 per cent. De Bruyne’s shot accuracy, meamwhile, stands at 57 per cent from 17 shots.
City face an away trip to a struggling Aston Villa on Sunday, with De Bruyne expected to return to the starting line-up as his side look to cement top spot in the Premier League before going into a two-week international break.
