Rio Ferdinand has confidently predicted that former club Manchester United will pip rivals to a top four position this season.
United could only manage a disappointing 1-1 home draw against ten-man Bournemouth on Saturday, leaving them lagging behind in sixth position in the race for Champions League football.
However, he says their greater consistency will see them finish the season strongly, while predicting disappointment for Liverpool and Arsenal.
“I think it will be Arsenal and Liverpool who miss out,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“The problem is, all the teams we’ve mentioned have an inconsistency.”
“They’ve(Man Utd) got into a groove and a mentality, and a way of winning.
“Today they drew, but they’ve got their hands on a trophy.
“I still think Jose Mourinho will be able to pick them up and re-align that. I think the most important thing to United is Zlatan Ibrahimovic.”
