Fleetwood v Burton Albion preview

Cod Army boss Graham Alexander will assess the fitness of Jon Parkin.

Despite signing a contract extension at the end of last season, the former Hull marksman has not featured this season as he struggles with a calf strain.

Fellow striker Steven Gillespie will also be unavailable after he joined Cheltenham on a month-long loan deal so David Ball will keep his place at the spearhead of Fleetwood’s attack following last week’s brace at Plymouth.

Midfielder Gareth Evans may also miss out as he struggles to overcome a foot injury that saw him limp out of the Capital One Cup clash with Notts County last week.

The Brewers will have an unchanged squad when they travel to the North West.

Summer signing Rene Howe was available for the first time after suspension against Rochdale last weekend so the only absentee on Saturday is expected to be defender Zander Diamond, who is out for the next three weeks or so after damaging a ligament in his foot.

Howe, along with fellow forwards Billy Kee and Adam McGurk have not had much football so manager Gary Rowett must decide whether to stick with them in the team or call on the likes of Michael Symes and Alex MacDonald.

Symes and MacDonald played for Burton against Derby in the Bass Charity Vase on Tuesday together with Adam Reed, Dominic Knowles and Matthew Palmer as Rowett tried to keep those who have been on the fringes of the starting XI ticking over.
