Former Liverpool striker tears into Oxlade-Chamberlain display

Emile Heskey has expressed his frustration after Liverpool’s £35m summer recruit Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a full debut to forget for the Reds on Tuesday.

The versatile England star joined the Reds on deadline day for from Arsenal but has had to wait patiently for a first start, which finally came in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup match at Leicester on Tuesday.

The Merseysiders lost 2-0 to the Foxes as Oxlade-Chamberlain played the full 90 minutes but made little impact.

“Disappointing,” Heskey told Sky Sports, when discussing the player’s full debut. “Sometimes you forgot he was even playing in the game.

“You expect him to be all-action up and down that wing and we didn’t see it.

“Creating chances, running at the defence.

“In all fairness, I’ve got to give it to Ben Chilwell because he played a blinding game today.”
