Saido Berahino: West Brom forward hoping to leave

Ben Foster has urged Saido Berahino to come off social media and says the forward has been guilty of doing “silly things that he doesn’t need to do” at West Brom.

Berahino came on as a second-half substitute in West Brom’s 1-1 draw with Swansea City on Tuesday night, 24 hours after Albion turned down an offer from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis said in December that Berahino was “lucky to be on the bench, never mind starting” after some disciplinary issues, and Foster says they are mistakes the 22-year-old really did not need to make.

Now certain to stay at The Hawthorns until at least the end of the season, Berahino has been urged to quit social media.

“When the gaffer says that little incidents have gone on, they’re just little silly things that he doesn’t need to do,” said Foster.

“These days with the likes of Twitter and Instagram, that kind of stuff, people are getting in touch with him from all different corners of the world. The best thing to do would be to delete all that rubbish and just focus on playing football.

“He knows he’s here until the end of the season, it’s as simple as that. You’d like to think he’ll get his head down and get stuck in.

“He just doesn’t need it [social media]. You saw when he came on that he offers a threat, he’ ll always score goals no matter where he goes because he is a natural goalscorer.”
