Foxes stick the knife into Blades

City had slipped out of the top six by virtue of Blackpool’s win at Derby earlier in the day but Michael Morrison’s header and a Matty Fryatt penalty helped lift them up to fourth in the table.

Morrison headed home a Matt Oakley corner (26) and Fryatt netted from the spot after being tripped by Nick Montgomery (35).

Half-time substitute Henri Camara immediately got United back into the game with his first touch but Kevin Blackwell’s side could not find an equaliser despite making it an uncomfortable second half for the Foxes.

The result ended the Blades’ seven-game unbeaten league run and left the south Yorkshire club without a league win on Boxing Day since 2004.
