Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele is reportedly eyeing a move to Real Madrid now that Barcelona have turned their attention to Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.
Dembele had been the subject of reported interest from Barcelona, but in the absence of a concrete move, the winger has grown impatient, and is now exploring the possibility of joining Los Blancos instead.
Real Madrid were heavily linked with Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe in a potentially world-record breaking deal, but were that transfer to fall through, Dembele may be a viable alternative.
According to the Daily Star, Zinedine Zidane plans to rotate the 20-year-old with the likes of Gareth Bale, now that James Rodriguez has left the club.
Real Madrid have also seen Alvaro Morata and Danilo depart the club, adding Dani Ceballos and Theo Hernandez.
Dembele recorded 10 goals and 18 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions last season, making 36 starts as Borussia Dortmund won the DFB-Pokal and finished third in the Bundesliga.
Were the move to go ahead, Barcelona would lose out on a viable alternative to Coutinho, which may mean that they prioritise his signing more urgently than before.
