Manchester City new boy Gabriel Jesus is better than Neymar and is currently “the best player Brazil have”, according to Pele.
The 19-year-old, who visited the club last week, hit 12 goals to fire Palmeiras to the Brasileirao crown and has joined a list of prestigious former winners to win the Golden Ball – the best player in Brazil – including compatriot Neymar.
Pele told ESPN: “He is a boy who has a lot of future. I’ve been watching his interviews. I’m going to joke, he’s a crier. Lives crying on the pitch. Everybody’s seen, lately.
“But it was deserved. Right now, he’s the best player we have. I think he can improve a lot still. Mainly, he will get more experience with international games. He will get more experience now, as he will play in Europe. Football there is harder, so he will still grow a lot. But at the moment, without a doubt, the prize is deserved for him.”
Gabriel Jesus will have some time off before he moves to Manchester. He is bringing his mother, his brother and two other friends to live with him to England.

Jesus, who joined City on a five-year contract for a reported £27million, has gone on record saying he could not turn down the opportunity of playing for Pep Guardiola at City.
“Sometimes you have an opportunity and can’t let it go,” Jesus told Goal. “That is what happened to me.”
