Gabriel Jesus is all set to turn out for Manchester City after being handed his lucky shirt No 33.

The 19-year-old Brazilian, who flew into Manchester last week, is set to seal his transfer to City after helping Palmeiras win their first league title for 22 years.

The exciting forward has revealed he has brought with him several of his friends and family to help him settle, while also staking a claim for the squad number 33.

Jesus told ESPN Brazil: “If I could, I’d take all the ones who are with me since my growth. I’m much connected to my neighbourhood, Jardim Peri, every time I’m having a day off at home, I go there.

“If I could, I’d take the entire neighbourhood there, and would make a Jardim Peri in England. It’s a place where I have peace.

“I’m going with my mum, my brother and taking two friends who are always with me, played football with me when I was small. I hope they help me a lot there.”

The forward, who scored 21 goals in 48 starts for the Brazilian club, wore the No 33 shirt for Palmeiras, and admitted that he had already asked City to be given the same number.

“I had told them it’s hard without the 33. I want this number because I used it since I was promoted at Palmeiras,” added Jesus.

Jesus, who joined City on a five-year contract for a reported £27million, has gone on record saying he could not turn down the opportunity of playing for Pep Guardiola at City.

“Sometimes you have an opportunity and can’t let it go,” Jesus told Goal. “That is what happened to me.”

Guardiola is expected to run the rule over the player in training over the next few weeks before deciding when to thrown him into the action.
