Remi Garde admitted “football is strange” but praised his players’ fighting spirit after Aston Villa beat fellow strugglers Norwich City 2-0 at Villa Park.
Goals from Joleon Lescott and Gabriel Agbonlahor earned Villa a crucial three points in their bid to beat the drop this season.
Garde told BBC Sport: “Our football has been improving recently but football is strange as we didn’t play that well today but we won.
“We didn’t concede a goal today which is very important for me. This is a base to build on. We are still believing. The way the players fight means a lot for me. Behaving in that way means we still have a chance.”
