Aston Villa manager Remi Garde says his side gave him the “right answers” in the second half as two late goals secured a tense 2-0 win over Wycombe in their FA Cup third round replay.
Villa were booed off the pitch at half time as they went into the break goalless against their League Two opposition.
But two late goals from Ciaran Clark and Idrissa Gana sealed the win for Remi Garde and sent the Premier League side into the next round.
And Garde says that he was “not happy” with his side’s first half performance, but was glad they responded by securing the win.
Speaking after the match, the Frenchman said: “The most important thing was to win and go through. We’ve been professional, it was not always easy.
“That is the fourth game in a row we are not losing, which is very good for momentum.
“I have to congratulate Wycombe – over the two games they gave us some tough moments.
“I was not happy about the performance in the first half. We could have been more accurate with the passing, the runs, everything. But they gave me the right answers in the second 45 minutes.
“With the run we are on currently, we’re very hopeful for the rest of the season.”
