Remi Garde admits that Aston Villa need to strengthen in “many areas”, but he wants to make only “two or three” signings in January.
Garde has already confirmed his interest in one player, Chelsea striker Loic Remy, but the Blues themselves are short up front and may not allow the Frenchman to leave Stamford Bridge on loan.
Aside from Remy, Garde would not even reveal what positions he was looking to strengthen in, for fear of upsetting players currently operating in that position.
“I think two or three players would be best for the team,” Garde said.
“There is. I would say, many areas (in which we need to strengthen). But I don’t want to say ‘I want players in this position’ because if I don’t get the player because of the market in that position then the player who will play there for the next six months will say ‘I shouldn’t play because I’m only playing because they couldn’t bring in someone’.
“We are bottom of the league, we need players of course. I’ve something very clear in my mind. Let’s see now what is possible with the market.”
