Gareth Bale claimed nothing had changed regarding his Real Madrid future after helping his side defeat Manchester United 2-1 in the Super Cup on Tuesday.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admitted he would try and lure Bale to Old Trafford if the player did not feature in the Skopje clash.
“If he’s playing tomorrow then I wouldn’t think of that [signing Bale],” Mourinho said on Monday.
“If he’s playing tomorrow it’s because he’s in the club’s plans. He has that ambition to continue in Madrid.
“I haven’t even thought about the possibility. If he’s not in the club plans – that what you are writing is true – with the arrival of another player, then we’ll try to wait for him on the other side and fight with other coaches.
“If he plays tomorrow it’s probably confirmation they’ll count on him next season.”
Bale did start though in Macedonia and afterwards played down the speculation and claimed he does not keep in touch with football speculation.
When asked if his future was with Madrid, Bale told BT Sport: “I’m just concentrating on my football. I’m not listening to anything and I don’t read anything.
“Obviously I get told bits and bobs, but I’m enjoying my football and playing as much as I can and winning trophies so that’s all I am concentrating on.”

Asked whether anything had changed on Madrid’s part, he added: “Not that I know have. I have not had any of those conversations. I’m just concentrating on my football and trying to get my fitness as high as I can.
“I’m just concentrating on getting fit and match ready.”
Bale admitted it was a tough game for the Champions League winners, but thought Real, who dominated possession, controlled the game.
“It is obviously great to keep adding to the trophy collection. It was a difficult game but I think we played well and controlled the game very well.
“It helped we have been training in 38C heat in Madrid! We controlled the game and deserved to win. We want to keep winning and every game we still have the hunger and desire,” added Bale.
