Gary Neville names his worst-ever game for Man Utd

Gary Neville has dug deep into his memory to name the performance he rates as his worst ever for Manchester United.

Neville was a model of consistency during his near two-decade stay in the United side, winning an incredible 20 trophies during his time at the club.

But he endured a number of displays that will haunt his days forever until he passes this mortal coil.

The Sky Sports pundit lists infamous games such as the final Maine Road Manchester derby, where Shaun Goater embarrassed him, as well as the club’s 1-0 defeat to Leeds in the FA Cup in January 2010.

But there was one game which he says was “a low moment”.

Asked to name his worst ever performance, he told United We Stand: “Real Madrid at home in 2000.

“I was going through a terrible period with confidence and felt like I didn’t want the ball. I remember being on the pitch, thinking “this is a low moment for me”.

Gary Neville: Loved battles with Liverpool

“I was 25 and had never felt like that before.

“Leeds in the third round of the FA Cup was a bottle job for the team, too. Terrible, terrible.

“Vasco Da Gama was bad. That and the City one live long in the memory.

“I was in Brazil when Scholesy texted me: ‘How are you, Gaz? Fiasco Da Gama’, the cheeky little b*st*rd.’”
