Steven Gerrard: Labelled a great by Figo

Steven Gerrard claims the whole league will be backing Liverpool against Chelsea this week, because the title race will be over if the Blues triumph

Speaking to BT Sport, Gerrard discussed becoming a manager but also passed comment on the title race.

Gerrard declared himself impressed by Chelsea, who he believes may already have the title sewn up, and fears for Liverpool if they lose on Tuesday.

“If they lose the match, it’s game over in terms of the title race,” said Gerrard.

“That’s why everyone will have a Liverpool shirt come Tuesday night, because Tottenham, Manchester United , Arsenal and Man City will all be looking for that small glimmer of hope. The whole league needs a win for Liverpool.

“I know how big the game is for the club because the gap is already 10 points and they must give themselves a bit of hope by taking all the points.

“Anything else and it’s advantage Chelsea – and it would be a massive advantage. They have only dropped 11 points since the start of the season – and I also think they could improve in the second half of the season.

“If they win at Anfield, I would be very surprised if they didn’t go on to become champions.”
