Steven Gerrard joked that Antoine Griezmann’s agent should keep him as far away from Manchester as possible this summer.
The Atletico Madrid frontman is hot property and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer despite being very diplomatic in public.
The France forward is believed to have a €100million release clause and earlier this year Atletico coach Diego Simeone admitted he was fearful the talented forward could leave.
When asked if Griezmann could leave in the summer, Simeone replied to AS: “Yes, because there is a termination clause. There is no security.”
Only last month the Manchester Evening News cited “sources close to the Frenchman” and suggested a deal was close with United.
The player himself though has played down the speculation and recently labelled the talk “tiring”.
“It’s always the same question and I now don’t know what to say,” he said in quotes published on. “I find myself repeating myself and I certainly see myself here. I feel it’s an answer that I’ve given so many times now but that very question is quite tiring.”

Ahead of tonight’s Leicester v Atletico clash in the Champions League, in which Griezmann started, Rio Ferdinand was asked, live on BT Sport if he was Griezmann’s agent, where would he try and transfer him to this summer?
Rio replied: “Well, what’s best suited to him?”
But former Liverpool man Gerrard quickly interjected: “Get him as far away from Manchester as you can find!”
Rio then retorted: “Old Trafford looks like the perfect destination!”
Ahead of the light-hearted interchange, Gerrard hailed Griezmann’s talent and said: “He’s one of the best players at finding space between the lines and hurting teams.
“Rio watched him not so long ago and I’m looking forward to seeing him live tonight.”
