Gills boosted by~Jackson double

Sam Parkin had opened the scoring for the Hatters only for Jackson, a £150,000 January signing from Rushden & Diamonds, to strike twice in the last 15 minutes to move the Gills one step closer to safety in League One.

Luton took the lead out of the blue after 17 minutes when Ed Asafu-Adjaye crossed for Parkin to head past a flat-footed Derek Stillie from the edge of the area.

Jackson had twice gone close for the Gills after the break before he grabbed the equaliser after 75 minutes, stabbing the loose ball home after a goalmouth scramble.

With three minutes left, the 21-year-old stooped to head home Nicky Southall’s cross to put another nail in Luton’s coffin.
