Gnanduillet weighing up future

The big striker is a reported target for Bharat FC, who include Gnanduillet’s former Spireites team-mate and friend Romuald Boco among their ranks.

Gnanduillet, out of contract with Chesterfield this summer, looked certain to leave the Proact Stadium as a free agent until a series of events clouded his future.

Former Blues boss Paul Cook was going to let the 23-year-old go, with Micky Adams at Tranmere keen to talk to the player. However, Adams’ departure as Rovers manager before the end of the season ended the possibility of a move to the Wirral.

Cook’s exit to Portsmouth and the subsequent appointment of Saunders added to the uncertainty surrounding Gnanduillet.

Saunders was impressed by the striker during his side’s 3-0 defeat at Chesterfield in January and recently offered him a new one-year contract to remain at the League One club.

It is thought Saunders sees Gnanduillet as an impact player from the substitute’s bench, but the Frenchman is chasing regular first-team football and is weighing up a comparatively lucrative offer from Bharat FC.
