Gordon leaves Colchester

Colchester defender Ben Gordon has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The 24-year-old will leave Colchester after signing for the club on a free transfer from Ross County last summer.

Gordon, who signed a two-year deal with the U’s, was a regular starter at the beginning of last season but following the arrival of Matthew Briggs on loan at the turn of the year found first-team chances limited.

Left-back Gordon progressed through Leeds’ academy before moving on to Chelsea. He did not make a first-team appearance for either club.

He had loan spells at Tranmere, Kilmarnock, Scunthorpe, Peterborough, Birmingham and Yeovil before joining Ross County in July 2013.
