Griezmann does not want to leave, says Atletico president

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says Antoine Griezmann does not want to leave and he does not think his release clause will be met.

Griezmann recently admitted he believed it was time to leave the club, while on French TV he claimed the likelihood of him moving to Old Trafford was “six out of 10′.

The France forward has been continually asked about his future over the last few months and Cerezo believes Griezmann has become tired of the talk and some of his answers may not be a true reflection of his feelings.

But Cerezo says the 26-year-old has never asked to leave and he does not believe the player’s £85million release clause will be met

“There has been no approach from Manchester United and nobody has offered to pay the clause and I don’t think anyone will,” he told Radio RMC.

“The situation is that Antoine Griezmann is an Atletico Madrid player and he has a contract until 2021.

“Never has he told me that he wants to leave.

“I am not surprised by his statements when every day of the last few months, journalists ask him the same question.

“I believe he feels a little annoyed to have to always respond with the same when everyone knows the situation.”
