Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City were denied a clear penalty late on as they drew 2-2 with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Having fallen behind to goals from first Leroy Sane and then Sergio Aguero, Arsenal twice drew level through Theo Walcott and Shkodran Mustafi for a 2-2 draw.

There was a moment of controversy late on as Nacho Monreal appeared to handle inside the area, but nothing was awarded.

Guardiola was seen talking with Monreal at the end of the game. Asked about the penalty call, he said: “He knows! He knows.”

Looking at the game as a whole, Guardiola added: “It was difficult, we played better in the second half, after we scored in the first minutes we forgot a bit to play.

“Second half we created more chances and positions and okay, it’s 1-1…”

Having then been reminded of the correct scored, he added with a laugh: “2-2, okay!”

“We need time to change the mentality for everybody. We have to improve.”
