Pep Guardiola: Will take over at Manchester City in the summer

Pep Guardiola is heading for Manchester City at the end of the season, according to former Bayern Munich boss Ottmar Hitzfeld.

Guardiola, 44, is expected to leave Bavaria at the end of the season when his contract expires in June 2016 and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.

Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said the Bundesliga leaders will hold talks with Guardiola during the winter break and make an announcement on his future in January, but Hitzfeld is sure the former Barcelona manager is heading to The Etihad.

“I’m relaxed, as is the coach,” Rummenigge said last month. “We’ll discuss it after the first half of the campaign. We’ll then come to a decision and we’ll announce it, whatever the outcome.”

Hitzfeld won five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League during his two spells at Bayern and says Guardiola to City is as good as a done deal.

“I suspect that Pep will leave Bayern, because Manchester City continue turning up with the money,” Hitzfeld told Blick.
