Pep Guardiola hailed his side’s performance during Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Goals from Vincent Kompany, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero scored the goals to secure their 11th away victory of the campaign.
The result lifts the Citizens into third place above Liverpool, while they are seven points behind Tottenham, who occupy second spot.
“The performance was really good,” said Guardiola after the match.
“Vincent is a central defender he is very good with the ball. Manuel (Pellegrini) was upset that he could not use him last season. And hopefully he can stay fit until the end of the season. I know how important he is to the fans because of what he has done.
“I am very happy with the way we played. We were finally able to make 20-25 passes and create many chances.”
