Manchester United target Ivan Perisic is reportedly set to make a U-turn on his future and sign a new deal with Inter Milan.
United have been chasing the Croatian all summer, but the 28-year-old’s move to Old Trafford has been blocked by new Inter boss Luciano Spalletti.
Spalletti is believed to be an admirer of the winger and Perisic is now set to sign a new contract with the Serie A giants after negotiations over a new deal in Milan got underway, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Manchester United did make an opening €40million offer for Perisic, which the Nerazzurri turned down. They are believed to be chasing €50million for the player, who could now extend his deal in Milan until 2022 after a change of heart.
The Daily Mirror claimed Inter had drawn up a contract worth £85,000 per week for the player as a last-gasp attempt to try and keep him at the club. Perisic though was reported to be desperate to play for Jose Mourinho at United and was keen on a fresh start.
Now though things seem to have flipped on their head and after earlier imposing a June 30 cut-off for offers for Perisic, Inter have now decided extend his deal which runs out in 2020, for another two years.
Mediaset Premium, earlier in the week, reported that Italy under-21 star Federico Bernardeschi, who scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 40 games for Fiorentina last season, had now become an alternative target for United.
Juventus are understood to be in pole position to sign Bernardeschi though and they are believed to be preparing a €40million bid.
The Italy winger is out of contract in Florence next summer and has so far refused to sign an extenstion to his deal, but apparently the Viola would rather sell to club overseas rather than a Serie A rival.
