Pep Guardiola wants to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic when he takes over at Manchester City, according to reports in Italy.
Bayern Munich manager Guardiola is expected to be given funds to transform the City squad when he replaces Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season.
And according Corriere dello Sport, the Spaniard has made Handanovic one of his main targets.
The Slovenia international was linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer, when it appeared David de Gea was on his way out of Old Trafford.
Handanovic signed a new three-year contract at the San Siro last month but Guardiola will be confident City have the finances required to lure the 31-year-old away from Italy.
Any such move would pose serious questions regarding the future of current number one Joe Hart.
Hart is finally receiving competition for his England place from the likes of Stoke City stopper Jack Butland and Southampton’s Fraser Forster, therefore the 28-year-old is likely to be unwilling to act as second choice at the Etihad Stadium.
