Charlie Austin hailed Southampton’s fine form following their 3-0 demolition of West Ham at London Stadium.
Austin was among the Saints scorers as the Hammers’ troubles continued, and, despite West Ham’s plight likely to grab the headlines, he insists his side were worthy winners.
“To get a goal just before half-time always helps,” he said. “I thought we deserved the lead for sure.
“When you keep winning you just want the games to keep coming. We had a slow start but now we certainly have the ball rolling.”
On his run of form in front of goal, Austin added: “If you ask any striker, when you’re on a hot streak you just want the games to keep coming and to keep putting the ball in the net and it keeps happening.
“When you’re playing with players like Dusan and the rest of the lads the chances come and for a centre forward it’s a dream.”
