‘Diamond Eye’ the best Arsenal signing in ages

So our transfer deals in recent years have been questionable to say the least and although we have always been renowned for having a good scouting network the transfers haven’t come to any fruition. Looks like the best signing in ages could be that of Sven mislintat aka diamond eye.

No one can ignore the talent that has come from the dortmund team in recent years and the next few transfer windows will be very interesting. considering his talent I can’t be see Sven staying around for long if wenger is as reluctant to spend on new players but all in all I think this may be the signing we needed to catch the big boys as we can’t outspend or compete with there transfers bugets.

Sir agree. A great behind the scenes signing as long as his recommendations are met appropriately. Although some of the players he is accredited with spotting where not entirely diamonds in the rough but some of the fees they paid at the time where not even cubic zurconia prices but they turned a massive profit.

Next up we need some decent coaches that Wenger is willing to work with.

‘Wenger will turn his players into losers’

He might be a good signing but in the long run He won’t be as useful because whatever player he scouts/recruits wenger will find a way to turn him from a winner to a loser. And even if it’s not the case and becomes a star,he will want to move to another team to win trophies and when that time comes we won’t turn any profit because this board and management will find a way to mismanage his whole contract like they have done with so many players.

Really,I’ve lost so much faith in this club that tommorrow even a messi signing wouldn’t excite me.I’m not exaggerating, because deep down I know that we don’t have the mentality and what it takes to win..

Sevilla will have to attack

It’s going to be a very different type of game this evening to our last couple of matches. The quality of the opponent is substantially higher. The good thing is that they need a win and will have to come at us, the bad thing is our cb pairing.

Mane on the bench tonight

I would like to see Mane on the bench tonight with Ox in his place

Gomez, Lovren, Klavan, Moreno

Hendo, Can, Coutinho

Salah, Firmino, Ox

I think that is a great point nediarb2, we do not need to win tonight but we cant lose either. I would like to see from a tactical perspective us play counter attacking football, it will suit us greatly with the pace we have upfront.

This could be a good game to start lallana to give us some pace in the middle of the pitch, break up play and win the ball high. The sevilla coach made some great tactical comments about how to approach the game, they will slow it down and try to keep the ball, the press will be key.

A draw tonight and then win our last game at home against the russians and we top the group, of course that is what my sensible head tells me. I would love to smash Sevilla tonight, we owe them i believe.

I very much doubt they’ll play their reserves against Karabag as they recently held Atletico to a draw and Chelsea still havnt qualified yet.

Whether it’s private plane or economy the flight still takes 6.5hrs which means they’ll get back to London in the middle of the night/early hours of Thursday morning. Cant see much prep getting done on Thursday then as they’ll be sleeping/recovering.

Mourinho wants David Luiz

So Mourinho wants David Luiz and is prepared to bid him for £50m at the end of the season.

if true what a best time to offload his troubles. i doubt if they will pay that amount for a 30 year old player who is hit and miss and having played crucial role in our title success last season, isn’t that player this season.

unless Mourinho wants to get one better over Conte ( if he may well still be in charge ) and Chelsea. or unless he wants to use him at midfielder if they sell Fellaini, because Luiz is similar in height and better technically. anyway if that is true i will chop off their hand without hesitation.

Chelsea.man

CM – but then you also see that Jose wants Willian if we look to offload him as well. They cannot all play…?

Lots of speculation with journalistic licence going on here as far as I can tell but if they both go then the coffers will see a significant improvement..? KTBFFH

Zouma’s progress

Stoke as a team is conceding goals. I won’t signal Zouma for any blame. He was their best defender on the night. Stoke defence has no protection. And let us not forget that he is from a horrific injury. And to add this is the first time that he is playing a squence of games in a row. I’m hopeful at the end of the season he will be the player we all know.

Chelsea.man

BP – all reports in the press always give Zouma high marks and he has won the player of the match many times

Personally, I see him back in the defence next season. KTBFFH

Sorry but I must of been watching a different player, he was caught out of position on many occasions, his distribution was poor often found a Brighton player.

Blinkers on, maybe chaps, but I have never got this clamouring for Zouma, injury was a bad one yes, but even before cant see this great defender some see.

I will stand by my opinion whilst respecting others, in that he will not be a Chelsea mainstay in seasons to come and he will be sold, in paricular if conte stays.
RLC and Tammy, defo players for the future, look forward to them next season at Chelsea.

BP… Fair play chap… Im not convinced he has a long term future with us… But then.. I thought the club dropped a clanger signing David luiz a second time.

If I may offer a defence of Zouma, I reckon anyone who is coming into the side to play in our back three has the game simplified by the system. Luiz looked like a worldie last season, Christiensen looks solid, Dave is on another level. Cahill often plays well on the left hand side of the three.

OR….

Is our defensive solidarity down to the Kante effect… A bit like the butterfly effect but for football.

Man Utd XI v Basel

Likely team vs Basel anyone?

———————-DDG———————
Valencia —- Bailly —– Lindelof —- Rojo

————–Herrera——-Matic————-

Miki————–Pogba——–Rashford/MArtial

———————Lukaku——————–

Subs: Romero, Smalling, Blind, Rashford/Martial, Lingard, Ibra

I still think he’ll secure qualification before experimenting with younger players

How many egos can a team carry?

Not sure if that is the plural of Ego, but you know what I mean. Far be it from me to suggest that a Manager or any member of his team is egotistical but the thought occurred to me that if big money signings start to proliferate there is an increased chance that team spirit which is paramount to success will be eroded.

Big K

Strong characters are required in a dressing room, training field and on the pitch. They bring confidence which filers down to those who are less vocal shall we say so in that instance the more the merrier.

However, with an ego you can get players who think they have made it before they have proven so and who don’t think they need to work as hard as they should. Plus you could get two egos in the same position competing which has the potential to be disruptive rather than creating healthy competition.

What do we mean by egos?

Depends on what we mean by egos. In the modern game of millionaire celebrities every established player could regard himself as a star. All Star teams do not necessarily have problems and if we look to the movie industry ensemble films can have several lead actors.

If a player thinks he’s better than he is, then its a problem in every warp of life. For United we’ve had those players in abundance.

If the player with ego thinks he’s above criticism, then thats something for the manager to deal with, and if he can’t the manager (or player) won’t be staying long.

The problem in my view is when a young player with ego (based on performance) conflicts with the senior player(s) whose ego is based on past performance and seniority. George Best and declining Bobby Charlton spring to mind.

Really the manager should consider working partnerships across the field eg center defense duo, midfield duo, attacking duo. The players must work together as equals. And if they can’t ……. well one has to go.

I wonder what prompted your post. Zlatan and Sweden possibly?

MacGuffin

I think you need a mix of the humble soldier and the egotistical star player. Too much either way and you risk having a team that is too weak or too fractured. Too many humble soldiers and you’ve no leaders, weak. Too many ego’s and your dressing room is fractured because no-one is wrong and equally everyone is right.

It is a fine line and really the ego should grow with achievement and not with a big contract. The question is, is it five or six soldiers with five or six egos, or more soldiers with less egos i.e. seven soldiers and four star players.
