Eddie Howe has intimated he will look to make further additions in an “important” month for Bournemouth as they prepare to face West Ham.
The Cherries have wasted little time in adding to their attacking options so far, with strikers Juan Iturbe and Benik Afobe both arriving on the south coast since the transfer window opened.
Bournemouth have been linked with Norwich forward Lewis Grabban recently, and Howe suggested in his pre-match press conference ahead of their Premier League encounter with West Ham that the club’s transfer business is far from concluded, as well as hailing the capture of Afobe.
“January is an important month for us, and I am excited by the players we have added so far,” he told reporters.
“We’re not looking to make any statements with the signing of Benik Afobe.
“He’s a talented young player who fits the mold of who we like to recruit – we’re excited by his attributes and think he’s a good fit for us.
“We obviously think he can score the goal required to keep us up although it may take him some time to settle with the way we play.”
Afobe, who is still awaiting clearance to face the Hammers on Tuesday night, has also spoken of his delight at sealing a move to the Premier League and vowed to improve whilst playing for Bournemouth.
“I am massively excited about this move. I have dreamed of playing in the Premier League since I can remember,” he beamed.
“The manager here has now given me the chance to do that – hopefully I can start to repay him as soon as possible.”
“I am only 22 so I know I’ve got a lot of improve. I know I am not the finished article yet, I have things to work on.”
“But that’s what the manager here likes to do. That said, I believe I still have plenty to offer to support this team.”
