Huddersfield goalkeeper Danny Ward will miss the first leg of the play off semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday after the club decided against an appeal.

Ward, who is on loan with the Terriers from Liverpool, was sent off in the final fixture of the regular Championship season against Cardiff on Sunday having been adjudged to have handled outside the box.

Huddersfield manager David Wagner stated after the game that he would study footage before determining whether to contest the automatic one-game ban, and Press Association Sport understands there will now be no appeal forthcoming from the Yorkshire club.

It means Joel Coleman will make his 10th appearance of the season between the sticks when the Owls visit¬†the John Smith’s Stadium, though Ward will be free from suspension for the return leg at Hillsborough the following Wednesday.
