Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has claimed “I am not a clown” as he vowed to let Sunday’s theatrics be resigned to history.
The Dutchman let his emotions run away with him during the weekend’s 3-2 win over Arsenal as he dived on the floor to make a point to the fourth official.
But the United boss says that will be an isolated incident and he intends to take up his normal place on the United bench rather than performing in the technical area.

“I am not a clown,” Van Gaal told Tuesday’s press conference. “I am Louis van Gaal, I am a human being and a manager.
“It is not part of my philosophy, I don’t think you can influence the game from that spot.
“The players have to think on the pitch. Not the manager.”
