Downbeat Klopp admits Liverpool ‘need to find answers’

Jurgen Klopp admitted he was struggling to find the right words to describe Liverpool’s performance at Leicester as the Foxes ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.

The Foxes rewound time to remind the watching world why they won the Premier League crown last year – our analysis of their performance and Liverpool’s struggles you can read here.

Speaking to the media after the game, Klopp said: “The language issues become a bit harder when you lose. It’s hard to find the right words.

“It’s not that Leicester were over aggressive tonight, I think we were not physical enough.

“They were well prepared, they were ready. They had their set pieces well thought out and we were giving throw ins away and what’s frustrating is it’s not like we didn’t talk about that.

“The first goal is difficult to accept and it obviously helped them a lot with momentum.

“It would be hard to explain my disappointment in German but in English its worse.”

Asked if we was concerned by Liverpool’s form since the turn of the year, Klopp said: “No, I’m not.”

But the Reds boss was clearly in a downbeat mood when he faced the media and did admit his side “didn’t do anywhere near enough”.

“We didn’t compete with Leicester and that’s a real problem. We did’t get close to doing enough. I’ve spoken to the players and we need to do more. It’s clear for all to see we didn’t do what we’re usually able to. We weren’t good enough in defence; we weren’t good enough in offence.

“You can always find excuses, but I won’t look for them. We need to find some answers because this wasn’t good enough.”
