Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not complete his move to Manchester United until Sweden’s Euro 2016 campaign has finished.
Ibrahimovic is a free agent after his exit from Paris Saint-Germain are is believed to be close to signing for United, but any prospective deal will now have to wait.
Sweden face Republic of Ireland, Italy and Belgium in Group E. Their final group game against Belgium takes place on Wednesday, June 22 when Ibrahimovic could be allowed leave if the Swedes have not made it through in the top two or as one of the four best-placed third-place teams.
The 34-year-old played for Jose Mourinho for a year at Inter Milan and he recently praised the Portuguese’s appointment at Old Trafford.
But so key is Ibrahimovic to Sweden’s chances of success in France, that coach Erik Hamren has forbidden him from leaving their Saint-Nazaire/Pornichet base to complete a medical at Old Trafford.
