The 23-year-old scored 11 goals in 18 games under Steve McClaren, now manager at Newcastle, while on loan at Derby last season and the former England boss is understood to be keen to bring him to St James’ Park.
But new Rams boss Paul Clement is also believed to like the former England U21 international, as well as Brentford’s Spanish right-winger Jota.
Ince, who has a year left on his contract, is likely to leave the KC Stadium after the club were relegated from the Premier League last season. He has only made three league starts and 13 appearances overall for the club.
Ince, son of former Manchester United and Inter midfielder Paul, has played for five different clubs within the last 18 months. He spent six months on loan at Crystal Palace from Blackpool before signing on a free transfer for Hull last summer. Ince then spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest before his spell with Derby last term.
Ince, who controversially turned down the chance to play for England’s U21s at the European Championships this summer, began his career as a Liverpool trainee but never made a first-team appearance and also spent time on loan at Notts County.
He played over a 100 times for Blackpool in a three-year spell after signing on a free transfer in 2011.
