Jose’s youth problem
Has never been his strength, and something he has never really done. Could this be part of the issue at United?
mufc
If this is an issue then he should be shown the door.
It’s not part of his remit to bring in young players to the academy and make them better. However, once they start training with the senior squad, his job is to bring them up to speed and make them better players. The only players who SEEM to have gotten better under him are older players. The younger ones all seem to struggle under him. Martial, Shaw (still only 22), Rashford. Fosu-Mensah and Tuanzebe haven’t had many opportunities and Andreas Pereira felt he had to leave and prove himself at Valencia in order to bring himself along at United which TFM and Tuanzebe have also done. How have the young player who are supposed to form the basis for the future of the club been allowed to leave and learn their trade elsewhere? Does Jose have so little faith in his current squad that he can’t even leave the development of young players in the hands of senior pro’s in the squad?
Many will say that Jose gave many young players their senior bow but how many of those did he significantly improve? In that sense LVG and Moyes were better coaches. We need to find a happy medium between the abysmal Moyes and LVG and Jose. Also, someone who can play the attacking football we want to see. I’ve no problem with Jose ‘parking the bus’ and squeaking a 1-0 against top six sides, sometimes you have to do that. It’s when we park the bus against Seville and Huddersfield that I lose the rag.
As has been frequently mentioned, it’s looking increasingly likely that Jose is not the man to take us forward. Yes he is producing results but we’re still playing the tepid, boring, predictable football we did under LVG.

That is a long angry post, remind me not to upset you lol.
mufc
I’m not actually that angry tbh. I’m just being straightforward, it’s a valid question about Jose and senior pro’s at the club.
Yes, there are and have always been question marks over Jose’s ability to develop young players. However, he also doesn’t seem to have much faith in his senior pro’s to take some of these young players under their wings as they should.
Are our senior pro’s so unprofessional that they can’t be entrusted to help nurture young talent?

Ownership problems
Although I am NOT a supporter of FSG, I won’t support “FSG out” because I don’t want our team to become a toy team. However, if they decided to sell Salah in summer, no matter what is the price or reason, I would support “FSG Out”.
Football Scouser
No idea why peopole complain about the owners. Couthino would not have went if klopp wanted him to stay.
They fully support the manager. they have expanded the stadium and we are still buying players
Really intresting is klopps signings. i dont think we have made any terrible signings. All players he has brought in have made an impact at some stage and when he spends big he usually gets it right
Salah
Mane
Ox – improving
Vvd- can see the quality and is going to be a huge player for us going forward
Winji- i like him. keeps the ball moving but he divides fans. needs to add goals to his game.
Still not convinced at all by karius but one thing he does really well is he is fast off his line. We play a high line and he’s quick off his line for balls over the top. He also seems to command his box quite well recently. Mignolet was far to slow off his line. He just doesn’t suit a team that plays a high line. Hopefully karius can keep going the way he is. He never really has much to do in games. Our problem is like at utd, 3 shots on goal and we concede two goals.

The Martial dilemma
Where was Ronaldo Gerrard Lampard Scholes Beckham Neville etc at the age of 21. I think I will remind you young exciting players breaking into the 1st team not regulars carrying the hopes of team.
The only under 21 players who were carrying the hopes of their teams were Rooney Messi Owen Fowler Fabregas.
Martial came here to a foreign country as a teenager under LVG scored 18 league goals as a 19 year old turning 20 playing mainly as CF and carried the team that season. Jose joins club and strips him of his shirt number and position and hands it to Zlatan.
Jose sticks Martial permanently on the left and slates him publically for not meeting his expectations. Last summer Jose spends the whole window chasing Perisic to play left and when he fails to get him starts alternating Martial and Rashford on the left as Lukaku is the only player Jose trust to play CF.
Martial plays 1st half of season and by the time the January transfer window comes is now showing the form consistently he was showing under LVG. Jose brings in Sanchez and plays him on the left and moves Martial to right meaning has to change his game again from CF to LW to RW. HE doesn’t instantly hit the ground running and plays poorly and is dropped.
I think guys you have been totally unfair in your assessment of Martial and ignored the lack of faith the manager has shown in him.
This why we need a director of football no manager should be allowed to sell our best young players just because they don’t know how to man manage them especially when most managers don’t last longer than 2 to 3 years.
Ika
Is he too expensive to go out on loan, to go to a team where expectations are lowers, to play every game, to iron out any weaknesses (attack more on the outside than cut in), to play with freedom to express yourself and then come back to us. We don’t seem to be bringing players on, is it a lack of desire by the players or are they not getting the support they need.
Scholsey
Ika, at 21 Ronaldo was the main man as we came on the verge of winning our first title in 2006. he also lit up Euro 2004 at the age of 18.
Anyway for me Martial will have a better career then Lukaku, he will be one of the best strikers in world football within the next 5 years, but in order to do this, he has to leave United ASAP, same with Pogba.

Expectations vs. reality
We can only promote young players when we can trust them, and our recent appointment doesn’t reflect that. Mourinho has never trusted a young player, the same applies to Conte he was known to prefer the above 29 yrs players. so he is not compatible with the vision we are looking. in Emenalo we had a Director of football who has a long term view. but its pity he got some terrible managers to work with. can you imagine if we had got the right manager to work with him?
Wise-fan
WF, I appreciate the effort you put into your post to me but I can not understand your thinking at all.
Please explain why we deserve more than europa league as fans? There are other clubs in this league too who will fight for the same things, why do we deserve success year in year out but not spurs fans?
Nobody expects you to think like a 70’s fan, but you need to gain some perspective and understand that the chelsea you fell in love with was a chelsea on steroids with the highest wage budget in league, it should be obvious that from the moment we had to start living within our means success would be harder to come by and rivals would be more competitive.
Given all the sh*t you highlight day in and day out, we have won league 2 of last 4. You think that is the minimum due, I say we are lucky b**tards.
Luckydestiny
Wise fan, you’re completely missing the point there was a total barren period between 1972 and 1996 it’s got nothing to do with the 70’s it was 24 years without a sniff of a trophy and periods in English football’s Second tier too and along the way the club very nearly went out of business.
Yet you are throwing your toys out of the pram over one year without a trophy and even that might not happen yet and despite the fact Chelsea have won 2 PL titles in the last 4 seasons too. Spurs by the way haven’t won a League title since 1961, Liverpool haven’t won one since 1990 and Arsenal haven’t won one since 2004. Even Manchester United haven’t won a PL title since 2013 a gap of 5 seasons.
As for missing out on the CL of course it’s disappointing but Arsenal have missed out, United have missed out, Liverpool have missed out and Spurs have only ever competed in it 3 times and even City have only ever competed in it 7 times whilst Chelsea have competed in it 15 times since 1999/2000.
Look on the bright side if we don’t make the CL this season as seems likely the EL gives us two bites at the CL Cherry next season.
Selling 2 of the key players from our title winning team to create the funds to buy 2 replacements which accounted for getting on for half of our gross transfer spend this season is not strengthening the team it’s just robbing Peter to pay Paul and certainly not what City do, and our actual transfer spend was £75m his season not a quarter of a £ billion when you subtract sales from purchases which is the only true and accurate way to measure real transfer spend.
City by the way spent £199m net this season well over £100m net more than Chelsea.
nine nine nine
football evolves season by season and no team has any right to expect success – they must all work for it. Liverpool were massive in the 70’s but have had a barren spell for many seasons now – yet under Klopp look as though they could return as a force. ManU under SAF were virtually invincible and won so many titles and yet they again have not been so prominent recently. Look at ourselves with only a title win in 1955 and a few cups until Roman came on board and now we are considered to be a European force
Of course it is disappointing when we do not follow up success each season but other teams will also have suffered, look to invest or make changes and then it is the team able to cope and adapt with those changes that comes shining through
Many posters on here seem to want to denigrate the achievements of last year but regardless of what benefits we had, Chelsea were the most consistent team in the league that season and therefore deserved to win the league. The same can be said of City this season
Swings and roundabouts for me but to remain competitive over a long period of time and the ability to show consistency is what this is all about in terms of winning silverware. KTBFFH
