Alex Neil: Tried to keep side fresh over Christmas period

Alex Neil hopes his decision to rotate his Norwich squad over the festive period will prove beneficial over the coming month.

Neil has been making changes in his squad over the festive period to keep his players fit for the string of games and he believes it has helped with the performances.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash with Norwich, he said: “I think the squad has been rotated that much that they are all pretty fresh.

“We have guys who are technically very good and then we have guys who are athletically very good.

“We haven’t really got a whole combination of players who have both, so we need to mix and match a little bit to face certain teams.”

Neil said defender Andre Wisdom could make a return to the side following a hamstring injury but this game is still too early for midfielder Matt Jarvis, who has a knee injury.

He added: “It is too soon, he has not done a day training with the players yet, he has only been training on his own.”
