Thierry Henry doesn’t think Arsenal need Dimitri Payet as they already have a player that could be as good as the France international.
Payet is looking for a way out of the London Stadium this month and, with Marseille bidding for his services, that seems his most likely destination.
The Gunners have also been rumoured to hold an interest in the star but last week Arsene Wenger denied they need a player like Dimitri Payet as they already have enough creativity in the side.
And Henry agrees and reckons that Alex Iwobi will one day be as good as Payet if he is allowed to fulfill his potential at the Emirates Stadium.
“I don’t think Arsenal need a player like Payet at the moment,” Henry told Sky Sports.
“They have Iwobi who could be like Payet in a few years’ time, he has been good for Arsenal playing through the middle.
“Iwobi needs games to fulfil his potential and signing a player like Payet could limit his playing time, and it could spell doom for his development.”
