Jack Wilshere to end lengthy Arsenal association with January move

Jack Wilshere: Midfielder has not played since July

Jack Wilshere has reportedly agreed a deal to leave Arsenal in January and bring an end to his 16-year association with the Gunners.

Wilshere, now 25, joined the Gunners as a nine-year-old back in October 2001 and made his first-team debut for the club as a substitute against Blackburn in September 2008.

However, after spending last season on loan with Bournemouth, Wilshere returned to Arsenal this summer having failed to earn a transfer elsewhere.

And with the player out of contract next summer, the Turkish media claims Wilshere has already agreed terms with Fenerbahce over a January move to the Super Lig. Fanatik claim Fener have agreed terms with Wilshere on a two-and-a-half-year contract and the England midfielder will move to Istanbul when the transfer window reopens.

The report adds that Fenerbahce are yet to agree a fee with Arsenal, but with the midfielder out of contract next summer and settled on a move to Turkey, it’s not expected finalising the deal will be difficult.

And even if the club are unable to strike a deal in January, the report adds that Wilshere will make the move next summer as a free agent instead.

Wilshere has made 105 appearances for Arsenal and could add to that when the Gunners face FC Cologne in the Europa League on Thursday night, with the midfielder expected to be named in Arsene Wenger’s squad.
