Joe Allen: Happy to make Stoke move

Manchester United are considering making a bid for Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen, according to a report.

Allen has only 12 months remaining on his contract at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp said to willing to listen to offers for the 26-year-old.

Swansea were said to be in pole position to take Allen back to South Wales having already had an £8million bid rejected earlier in the summer but the Wales star’s form at Euro 2016 as attracted more interest and raised Liverpool’s asking price.

The South Wales Evening Post reports that Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Allen to Old Trafford as he sets about the task of reshaping his midfield.

Their story claims:

United, who are reshaping their midfield under Mourinho — the futures of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Marouanne Fellaini are all unclear — could offer Allen European football if their bid is firmed up.

Even if Mourinho decides to make Liverpool an offer, the Reds are likely to be extremely reluctant to sell to one of their biggest rivals.

Stoke and West Ham are also said to be interested in Allen, who was also being watched by Sevilla.
