Jose Mourinho to put bad blood aside and move for Chelsea star Luiz

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is tracking the situation of David Luiz at Chelsea, according to a report.

The Daily Express claims Mourinho is watching developments at Stamford Bridge after the Brazilian centre-back was dropped for the game against United two weeks ago.

The 30-year-old only played for one season at Chelsea under Mourinho and the pair’s relationship was prickly, but Mourinho could move for the defender in January.

Mourinho is said to have been impressed with Luiz this season and despite selling Luiz in 2013/14 for a then world-record £50million fee for a defender to Paris Saint-Germain, he is keen on being reunited with the player, who he said “would not be missed” when he left the Bridge.

Luiz is believed to be angry at being dropped by Antonio Conte, with the Italian boss claiming it was a tactical decision with Andreas Christensen given a start at the back. Asked if Luiz had a future immediately after the match, Conte told Sky Sports: “I don’t know. He has to work really hard otherwise they are on the bench or in the stand.”

The pair reportedly had a bust up after Chelsea were thumped 3-0 by Roma in the Champions League at Roma after Luiz questioned Conte’s tactics.

While Conte was also upset at Luiz’s angry reaction after being substituted in the home game against Roma.

Luiz will not be short of offers though and a report earlier this month claimed Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan had made contact with his representatives.

Europe’s big guns have registered their interest in Luiz and are willing to take the player on loan in January, but that option is unlikely to be available to United.

Barring two games when he was banned, Luiz had started every Premier League game before the U.ited game

Conte signed Luiz from PSG on deadline day in August 2016 and last season he labelled him a “world-class defender”.
