Jose to keep RLC and give Moses a shot

Mourinho was critical of Loftus-Cheek’s work rate after Chelsea’s 1-0 friendly win over Sydney FC last month, but the Blues boss believes remaining at Stamford Bridge will be best for the 19-year-old’s development.

“He is one I am not interested in letting go on loan, I want to keep him because he needs to improve a lot,” Mourinho said of the midfielder.

“And I think the best way for him to improve is to be working with us every day, even if he doesn’t play much.

“In this moment he is far from being in conditions to play for us.”

Moses, meanwhile, impressed as a second-half substitute in Chelsea’s 4-2 defeat to New York Red Bulls and could play his way into Mourinho’s first-team plans.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Stoke and has been also been linked with Everton and Tottenham, but Mourinho plans to take a close look at him before the start of the new season.

“He’s strong, he’s an experienced guy, he knows the Premier League well, he’s fast, he’s aggressive,” Mourinho said.

“Ok, he has to learn how to play with us obviously. But I’m happy with him this week, I’m happy with his 45 minutes.

“The next match he’ll have 45 more minutes and let’s see what happens. Victor has had an evolution in the last couple of years.”
