Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool rant labelled ‘pathetic’ by BBC pundit

Garth Crooks has labelled Jurgen Klopp’s post-West brom rant as “pathetic” after Liverpool were pegged back in a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns.

Klopp was fuming after Saturday’s draw, which saw Albion scored twice in the last 11 minutes to deny Liverpool what looked like being three easy points.

The German coach was uncharacteristically in a flap on Saturday and claimed the dry pitch had an effect on the result.

“It was a difficult game as the pitch got drier and drier. West Brom decided not to water the pitch at half-time and that makes it difficult,” said Klopp

“It makes a massive difference. A team like West Brom do not need a wet pitch, they can do it next year playing on a dry pitch in the Championship.”

It was a factor that opposition boss Darren Moore brushed off, while Crooks took his own view in his Team of the Week column.

He said: “Salah’s goal at West Brom on Saturday was another exquisite chip beyond the advancing Ben Foster.

“However, Jurgen Klopp’s suggestion that the Albion pitch not being watered at half-time was somehow responsible for his team losing a two-goal lead is about as pathetic as it gets.”
