Juventus reach summer agreement with Morata, claims report

Juventus have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata over a return to the club this summer.

Rai Sport are reporting that the Spain forward is happy to leave Stamford Bridge just one-year into the five-year deal he signed after arriving from Real Madrid for £58million last summer.

The 25-year-old has scored 15 goals in 45 games for the Blues this season, but he has taken flak from Chelsea fans after a 13-game run mid-season where he failed to score.

Juve CEO Beppe Marotta refused to rule out the possibility of bringing Morata back to the Allianz Stadium during an interview before Saturday night’s match at home to Bologna. But agreeing a deal with Chelsea may prove difficult with Chelsea most probably looking to recoup the £58million they paid for him 12 months ago.

The report claims Juve would not be able to afford such a fee outright, but they are set to propose a loan with option to buy in 2020.

Spain international Morata currently earns between £120,000 and £150,000 a week in the capital, but Juve would not be able to match those terms with their top earner Gonzalo Higuain, apparently on €9million per season, but the report claims Morata is willing to cut his salary and spread it across a multi-year contract.

Morata played in Turin between 2014 and 2016 and was a success before he returned to Real Madrid last term, and then eventually signed for Chelsea last summer.

In an interview with Spanish TV programme Espacio Reservado in February, Morata admitted he would struggle to turn down a chance to return to Real.

He said: “Look, I have to respect Chelsea who made a massive effort to sign me and I am very happy here.

“But Real Madrid are Real Madrid always.”
