Roy Keane: Pundit remains unimpressed by Arsenal

Roy Keane: Impressed Martin O'Neill as an assistant

Roy Keane believes Arsenal are still a “soft” team despite beating Bayern Munich 2-0 in the Champions League.

The Gunners rocked the German champions with goals from Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil to secure a crucial victory, but Keane was clearly left unimpressed.

Former Manchester United captain Keane described Arsenal as “weak” after the 3-2 defeat to Olympiakos last month and his opinion does not seem to have changed.

“They’re still soft,” the Irishman told ITV Sport.

“Just because they beat Bayern Munich [doesn’t change that]. I thought they’d get a result. They were desperate for a result.

“I’ve said all along they’re a top quality team going forward, but they rode their luck again last night and the goalkeeper made some good saves. They’ve still got a lot to do to get out of the group.”

Arsene Wenger’s side began their Champions League campaign with disappointing defeats to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos, and Keane insists they need to be more consistent against the lesser teams if they are to be successful.

“They have to do it more often. Even the manager said some European games, he’s not sure if the team is up for it,” he added.

“It is very easy to raise your game for Bayern Munich, but it is the two previous games that have cost them.”

Arsenal are third in Group F, three points off the qualification places with three games left to play.
