Jurgen Klopp says he cannot wait to sample the “special atmosphere” at Anfield as he prepares for his first home game as Liverpool manager against Rubin Kazan.
The Reds host the Russians in their Europa League Group B clash in what will be Klopp’s second game in charge of the club – but first at Anfield – having overseen a 0-0 draw at Tottenham on Saturday.
And Klopp told a news conference ahead of Thursday’s game he was very much looking forward to experiencing a famous European nights at Anfield.
“I’m looking forward to my first home game, it’ll be a special atmosphere – I hope we can take this atmosphere and transport it into the game.
“I can’t say much about the atmosphere at Anfield but I want to go there and see it and feel it.
“In our situation the Europa League is a big chance to get a good feeling and confidence.
“I hope that nobody is waiting for 4-0 after three minutes and is disappointed!”
Klopp has admitted the game will come too soon for Daniel Sturridge, but hopes to have the player back for Sunday’s Premier League game against Southampton. His absence is likely to mean Divock Origi keeps his place in attack.
“Sturridge is getting better and better,” he added. “The timeframe is Sunday, that’s what we try to do.
“Dejan Lovren and Roberto Firmino are also back in training.”
